The bus driver dropped me and two other older women off at the stop for Temple 24. I asked if I could follow the women when I found out they were going there also.
Lo and behold – another gazillion stairs, but this time I had the energy from the good breakfast.
We did our thing then the women asked if I wanted to come with them to the next temple. At first I said yes but then I realized they were catching a taxi so I politely declined and asked which way to walk. They pointed back the way we had come.
I looked at my map and asked some other people who were just arriving - they pointed to the road that lead up the side of the cliff we were on. I liked that option more. Twice as long but 10 times easier. They then gave me 500 yen as settai.
I was finally walking solo and it felt good. I talked, laughed and sang to myself all the way to the next temple. I found it easy enough and even managed to buy something to eat on the way.
Temple 25 was right by the sea in Muroto and even though it was drizzling, it was still beautiful.
As I was walking along beside the main road, I found a pair of navy blue wet weather trousers flapping in the wind, wrapped around a pole. I unwrapped them and held them up - they were in perfect condition and felt like they were a gift from the Universe so tied them to my bag to put on later. Yay! Just what I soooo needed!
I quickly rang Father to say all was well. He said they had all been getting my texts (even though they didn’t reply) which was a relief to know. I told him about all the stairs I had been climbing and took a picture so I could show him later what I was looking at as I was talking to him...
I set off for Temple 26.
