Outrageously Helpful

May 12 conts...

I walked into town and ate at MacDonalds on the way. I had just this morning thought how much I would like a Filet O Fish.

I walked a bit further and found a train station but couldn’t find anyone who understood me enough to help me with a ticket so I just stood for a minute.
A class of young children came through so I stopped the last teacher. She understood enough to point out the next station I needed to go to and how much it was going to be.
As she left to catch up with her class, I put the money in the machine but the numbers changed and I kept having to push the refund button. I was just about to try a third time when the teacher came running in saying ‘Train now!’ so we sprinted up the stairs and over the ramp and back down the other side and got on the train.

The integrity and pride of the public servants of Japan is beyond compare.

When I got to the next train station, I was directed to the next bus I needed to catch and, because I had experience of a bus arriving a good 20 minutes before departure, I asked a driver if the bus he was standing next to was the one I needed to catch. He said No-next one.
In the meantime I looked around a vege shop.
Next thing, the bus driver comes running into the shop saying ‘Your bus, your bus!’

Yesterday I had a train ticket sales person come running out of her booth, across the tracks and along the platform to make sure I got on the right train.
Unbelievable.
Of all the incomprehensible non roman character countries to travel in ie: Russia, India etc Japan must surely be the best for helpfulness (and cleanliness).
