We came back in but I was beside myself.
She took me up to my room and I said incredulously “They drove me (indicating a steering wheel) Kyu Ban (9 Temples) today!”
She looked in confusion and blankness at me then she said in amazement Kyu Ban desu ka! I said Hai! And started a fresh round of sobs.
I felt overwhelmed.
I pointed at the tea box and said ‘Kocha!”. I think she was relieved for the diversion and filled the electric urn. I got myself together and asked where the bathroom was which led to a tour of the facilities.
I came back to my room, got my laundry and night clothes and toiletries then went down and had a shower.
I sobbed the last of my grief and gratitude in the shower, got dressed, put on a load of washing and returned to my room.
I needed to share the days events with someone but decided to write a summary text instead and sent it to a few people.
I was starting to feel better and made myself a tomato sandwhich and green tea.
I then spent the next hour answering reply texts and checking laundry.
As I started writing the days events, it suddenly occurred to me that I had suggested Taichi San look up Yamamoto San at Temple 26 when he got there.
I thought I should ring him and tell him that not only was his name not Yamamoto San but that he didn’t reside at Temple 26.
Taichi San was astounded when I told him about the day and kept saying Wow!
He wasn’t sure if he could drop in on them but he was really appreciative of me calling him though.
