Someone to Stalk

May 7 (17kms)

The alarm in the room went off at 12:10am – I sat up dazed and confused and was relieved it wasn’t time to get up yet. I finally woke at 6:30 but kept dozing dreaming for about 15 minutes, waking then dozing and dreaming again until about 8. I can’t remember my dreams but I flew in each one of them.

Strangely I started feeling guilty about the time, feeling like I should be on the road, so hurriedly had a shower and went for breakfast. I had a boiled egg and a divine pastry and two cups of coffee. When I left I did my usual and whipped away a small banana and five small butters.

After breakfast I asked to see Takashi San. He came in and I told him I would like to ask a big favour. I didn't even get a chance to explain about the leaving the big bag when he instantly said Yes – leave whatever you like for as long as you like. I was thrilled and extremely impressed yet again. I quickly went up to my room, got my things and returned with my pack. I also booked and paid for June 20th (I fly out June 24th). I asked if he could translate something on my map and he and some receptionists helped me to find which train I needed to go on to Temple 18. I thanked them all very much and left for the station.

As I walked in, I saw a young Henro man. I asked him if he was going to 18 and when he said yes, I asked if I could 'follow' him. I asked him when the train was leaving (15 mins) and said I would just pop upstairs for 5 mins. I zoomed up and was pleased to see Claire San on reception. I gave her a nano second run down of my travels thus far, thanked her again and left.

My young henro was waiting for me by the ticket machine. He helped me get one then we left. On the train I found his nickname was Taichi San, which, for once, was a name I could remember!! He was going to all 88 also and in a similar manner to me – walk some – train some.
