She returned with car keys and drove me to a little place about a block along from her.

Is there no limit to these peoples generosity?!!

It was almost OKOK place again but only 3,500 yen.
I said many Arigatoes and Sainaras and my jolly laughing proprietor showed me to my room. It was more like a student flat. It had all the essentials including a hair salon barber chair and basins and a lazy boy that looked like it could whip up a three course meal if you pressed the right button on its remote.

I asked the man what time breakfast was and he said, quite matter of factly with his painted on smile, No Breakfast!
Nevermind. I would have to find somewhere in the morning.
I paid, he left and I had a shower and got changed into my pyjamas. I put on the gassy heater and knew it was in my best interests not to have it on for too long.

The neighbourhood had a symphony of sounds that seemed to converge in my room – a frog, a dog, the gyang gyang of the alarms across the road at a train crossing, nearby cars which added to the glub glub of the gas heater. I turned the heater off knowing I was going to have a brilliant nights sleep in the western style mattress on the floor.

Despite being warm and comfortable, I was really worried about the money situ…
