Just One Moment - T79

May 18 cont...

I decided to train to Temple 79 despite having intended to walk the last of the Temples. I now had to be very careful with the 45,000 yen I had left and needed to get as far along as I could in order to get back to Tokushima to sort out getting access to my bank account.

I considered going straight back to Tokushima then but calculated I would use up 20,000 yen. I thought about a number of scenarios but decided to keep going to 88.

Temple 79 was in a tiny place with a calf pen for a train ticket depot so after just making it to the office, and not being able to see anything that resembled accommodation, I trained to the next place.

I arrived about 5:30 – 6. I had nowhere to stay so made that my first priority. At least this place was much bigger that the last one.
I asked a man in a little food kiosk if he knew of any Hotels.
He got the panicked look in his eyes that people often got when bombarded with pidgeon Japanese and asked me to ‘wait one moment’.
He grabbed the phone so I guessed he was calling someone who could translate.
It turned out that his kiosk was in front of his house and his partner came rushing out.
I told her what I was looking for and she got a phonebook.

She said ‘just one moment’ and disappeared.
